Intro
Easy winter hike into the Jamtal
Description
The Menta winter hiking trail starts in the district of Gaffelar and can be reached from Galtür village square in 15 minutes, or directly via the winter hiking trail Galtür South. It runs in a southern direction into Jamtal Valley and here you have unmatched views of Jamtal glacier already at the start of the entrance to the valley. Experience the untouched nature and mountainsides covered in deep snow in one of the most scenic tributary valleys of Paznaun.

Jamtal Valley spans some 10 km in length. Numerous mountains topping 3,000 m surround this tributary valley, incl. Vordere Jamspitze (3,178 m) and Hintere Jamspitze (3,156) at the border to Switzerland. These two peaks are also visible at the beginning of the valley. After some 1.5 km you’ll get to the end of this winter hiking trail and the way back also leads along the same route.
Arrival
The autoroute (A12 (westbound) or A14 (eastbound)) leads you to the Arlbergschnellstraße (S 16). At the exit for Pians, turn onto the Paznauntalstraße (B 188) and follow its course into the Paznaun.
Parking
Car park Arzthaus Galtür
Public transport
With the railway station in Landeck, the Paznaun is optimally connected to the Austrian train network. From Landeck-Zams station, only a short bus ride separates you from the Paznaun. Every half hour, line bus 260 runs from there through the valley. Bus stop: Galtür Dorfplatz
