Perfectly prepared

The hiking season runs from late June to mid or late October. During the summer months, most huts are open and the summer lifts are fully operational.

In high summer, higher altitudes offer pleasant temperatures, while autumn impresses with clear views and excellent visibility.

All these routes are located in the ski resort. This means that you can easily reach or shorten them by hopping on the cable car.

Many tours start directly at the summer cable cars or can be significantly shortened with a gondola ride. Especially around Idalp, this creates scenic panoramic and family-friendly hikes with fewer elevation gains but impressive mountain views.

Lift-assisted hiking is ideal for leisurely walkers, families, or as a starting point for longer alpine tours. In addition to the lifts, there is another convenient option: the lodge taxi takes guests directly to selected mountain huts – perfect for enjoying alpine cuisine without a long ascent.

Yes. The Paznaun High Route is one of Tyrol’s most impressive multi-day hikes. Spanning nine stages, it runs through the entire Paznaun Valley – from See via Kappl and Ischgl to Galtür.

In addition, individual hut-to-hut tours can be planned in the Silvretta or Verwall ranges over several days. Detailed stage information and accommodation options can be found in the tour section.

The trail signage in the Paznaun region is clear and reliable. Signposts are located both at starting points and along the routes, guiding hikers safely to their destinations.

Note: Signage may change when crossing into Switzerland or the Vorarlberg hiking region.

Summer bus

The Paznaun summer bus connects the villages of the valley on a regular basis and provides convenient access to numerous starting points. Line 260 runs between Landeck-Zams railway station and Bielerhöhe in Galtür, serving key locations such as See, Kappl, and Ischgl. With the Silvretta Card Premium, public transport from Landeck to Bielerhöhe is included.

Numerous hiking car parks and parking facilities at the valley stations of the mountain lifts are available throughout Paznaun for individual travel. Many tours start directly in the villages or can be ideally accessed from selected parking areas.

Safety in the mountains

Careful planning and the right equipment are essential for a safe mountain experience. Before every tour, it is recommended to check the current weather conditions, as weather in high alpine areas can change rapidly. In Austria, the emergency number for mountain rescue is 140, and the European emergency number is 112. A realistic assessment of your physical condition and choosing an appropriate route are key to safety.

Infrastructure along the way

Along many hiking trails in Paznaun, you will find rest areas and serviced alpine huts inviting you to take a break. In the villages and at selected starting points, public facilities such as drinking water stations and sanitary facilities are also available.
