Live in Ischgl for the season opening
When it comes to spectacular events to open the season, Ischgl has always shown a great deal of creativity. This will be the case again this year when the "doors open" on 27 November 1999 for a new, almost limitless skiing experience in the white Silvretta.
As in 1995, when star model Naomi Campbell walked the catwalk in Ischgl, the popular international winter sports centre is also set for fashion from head to toe at this year's opening ceremony: The new collections from the "Alta Moda" designers Prince Egon von Fürstenberg, Gattinoni and Gai Mattiolo will be presented on the Prennerhang in Ischgl - as is usually the case on the Spanish Steps in Rome. Top models will not only catwalk around the Silvretta resort, but also - with the "hot" support of the Ischgl ski school - take a tour of the piste. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the "Big Band Castello", a 20-piece orchestra. In addition, the Ischglers want to pull an international superstar out of their magic hat, whose name is still being kept under a cloak of secrecy...
From the following day, of course, the total winter action begins in the white Silvretta: all 13 chairlifts and 24 T-bar lifts ascend and open up around 200 kilometres of pistes as well as huge fun parks with their snowboard and carving routes, half and quarter pipes and obstacles. As if that wasn't enough, Ischgl is organising a special countdown from the opening of the season. Every evening and all night long, a digital clock on the Madleinhang will show how many days, hours, minutes and seconds are left until New Year's Eve and the much-anticipated zero hour.
