The new hiking trail from Ischgl to the Idalp – from summer 2011
The hiking trail connects Ischgl with the Idalp and starts at ‘Kalvarienberg’. The hiking trail leads in the lower section mostly over tillered hillsides and crosses the Fimbabach twice via suspension bridges. You get across two streamlets, which are located in front of the intermediate station, via little wooden bridges.
Two spectacular suspension bridges
The two suspension bridges across the Fimbabach were built using state-of-the-art techniques, and together they are more than 200 metres in length. At the highest points, the ground clearance is unbelievable 70 meters. Both suspension bridges are intended only for pedestrians. Grids have been installed as ground coverings and the railings are fitted with cables, with mesh grids stretched in between. The bridges are attached by cables underneath and at the sides.
‘Kitzloch’ bridge:
This bridge heads out of the valley across the Fimbabach and has a span width of 120 metres.
‘Bärenfalle’ bridge:
This bridge heads into the valley across the Fimbabach and the span width of this suspension bridge is 110 metres.
