Bike & Hike Galtür - Wiegensee

The starting point for this route is the information office in Galtür. By bike, the route initially follows the Trisanna, later next to the Zeinisbach on the Paznaun cycle path to the Alpengasthof Zeinisjoch at just under 2,000 metres. Here the mountain bike is safely parked in the bike depot. The alpine inn, which is already in Vorarlberg, invites you to take a comfortable break on its large sun terrace. From here you follow the scenic hiking trail towards Verbella Alpe (1,938 m). This idyllically situated alpine pasture is also a good place to stop for a break, surrounded by the spectacular nature. Along the Verbella stream, the trail leads into a unique high moor landscape to the Wiegensee lake. The Wiegensee lake was crowned as Austria's most beautiful place in the 2021 show "9 Plätze - 9 Schätze" (9 Places - 9 Treasures).

Info: The Wiegensee lake and the surrounding moorland are located in the Verwall European nature reserve. There are numerous protected plants to admire. Leaving the paths is not allowed.

The autoroute (A12 (westbound) or A14 (eastbound)) leads you to the Arlbergschnellstraße (S 16). At the exit for Pians, turn onto the Paznauntalstraße (B 188) and follow its course into the Paznaun.

At the Arzthaus Galtür or at the Sports and Culture Centre Galtür

With the railway station in Landeck, the Paznaun is optimally connected to the Austrian train network. From Landeck-Zams station, only a short bus ride separates you from the Paznaun. Every half hour, line bus 260 runs from there through the valley. Bus stop: Galtür Dorfplatz
