What began as a small but ambitious race in the nineties has developed over three decades into one of the toughest and best-known mountain bike marathons in Europe. In its anniversary year, the Ischgl Ironbike will be held over two days, as in the last two years. On the programme: On 8 August the Short Track for licensed riders and the Kids & Juniors Trophy for the youngsters, and on 9 August the Ischgl Ironbike Marathon with its four courses Extreme, Hard, Medium and Light. The 30th Ischgl Ironbike is supported by Simplon, official bike partner of the region, Cuore, Volksbank Tirol and other partners and sponsors of the tourism association.

"While in the early years only a handful of participants took on the challenge of a mountain bike marathon, today top athletes and amateur athletes from over 30 nations travel to compete in our breathtaking mountain scenery. Over time, the routes have become longer, more varied and also adapted to the requirements of amateur athletes. We are particularly pleased that our race has become an integral part of the mountain bike scene and has now even achieved international cult status," says Alexander von der Thannen, Chairman of the Paznaun - Ischgl Tourism Association, the organiser of the Ischgl Ironbike.

Ischgl Ironbike Marathon

The Ischgl Ironbike Marathon, one of the toughest mountain bike races in Europe, takes amateur athletes and professionals from Ischgl to neighbouring Samnaun in Switzerland via smugglers' trails steeped in history. The four race routes are open to all riders, but licence riders are only classified on the EXTREME and HARD routes. The Ischgl Ironbike Marathon will pay out 41,100 Euro in total prize money.
