Immediately after her strong World Cup performance in Davos, cross-country skiing star Teresa Stadlober and Lukas Mrkonjic use the ideal conditions in the Cross-country Skiing Region Ischgl & Galtür in Paznaun for important training sessions - with a view to the upcoming Tour de Ski and the World Championships in Trondheim.
The season started extremely promisingly for Teresa Stadlober. With top ten finishes in Ruka, Finland, and most recently in Davos, she has proven that she belongs to the world elite. "I've rarely had such a strong start to the season. That makes me particularly happy. Now I can concentrate fully on the Tour de Ski at the end of December," says the 30-year-old from Salzburg optimistically. She is particularly looking forward to the stages of this year's Tour de Ski, where Stadlober can prove her strong form and collect important points.
Training day and night in Ischgl and Galtür
After her impressive 6th place at the World Cup in Davos, Teresa Stadlober has lost no time. Together with ÖSV colleague Lukas Mrkonjic, she travelled to Paznaun, to the Cross-country Skiing Region Ischgl & Galtür, for two days of intensive training. She was particularly impressed by the floodlit trail in Ischgl: "It's perfect. It's fun to run on the floodlit track. It's the perfect way to complete the training sessions in the morning and late afternoon. I can only recommend this to everyone." 80 kilometres of perfectly groomed and partially illuminated trails in Ischgl and Galtür offer cross-country skiing enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the snow-white landscape every day between 09:00 and 22:00 either in classic or skating style, use is free of charge.
Looking forward to the World Championships and Galtür Nordic Volumes
In addition to the Tour de Ski, the absolute highlight of the season is coming up for Stadlober at the beginning of March: the World Championships in Trondheim. While Lukas Mrkonjic still has to secure his starting place in the World Cup, Stadlober will be competing for medals in several races - including the 50-kilometre race, which is being held for the first time.
Another fixed date is the start at the Galtür Nordic Volumes from 27 to 29 March. Every year, amateur athletes and cross-country skiing professionals meet here to round off the season together. Stadlober and Mrkonjic have already completed a few laps of the high-altitude trail on the Bielerhöhe and got to know the challenging route very well.
